Poet's Day: 'An Ode To Poetry'

As we celebrate 'Poet's Day' on August 21st, I wanted to find a couple of books that stood out to me in particular that complimented the day. There were so many it was hard to pick, but I wanted to concentrate on highlighting new authors, not pull from all the great poets of the past.

“12:12 MIDNIGHT”

by Danielle Ever Rose

It’s a hauntingly beautiful poetry and quote book. Here are a few examples, so you will see why it made my selection:

"I was stuck in a world where Heaven and Hell collided,

A place where Angels come to cry...

A place called Earth."

“From the wounded soul, comes poetry and music.

In return, music and poetry heals the soul.”

"FLOWERS CROWNS AND FEARSOME THINGS"

by Amanda Lovelace

This was another fabulous book from Amanda Lovelace with hard-hitting, deep, and a strong set of poetry. A must read!

Here is a sample:

"if being in love with you was as cold & hopeless as eternal winter,

then learning to love myself was as warm & relieving as stepping out into a spring day after a year locked indoors.

- I am determined to heal."
